Microsoft has locked in a blockbuster May 2026 slate for Xbox Game Pass, headlined by Playground's Forza Horizon 6 launching day one on May 19. The racing franchise entry arrives alongside a deep roster of premium releases across all tiers, arriving at a moment when the service itself just became cheaper.
The price cuts are significant. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate dropped from $29.99 to $22.99 monthly, while PC Game Pass fell from $16.49 to $13.99. These adjustments came under new Xbox leadership following Asha Sharma's move into the top role at Microsoft's gaming division earlier this year.
Beyond Forza Horizon 6, May brings a sustained wave of day-one arrivals. Subnautica 2 hits on May 14 in early access form, arriving as a long-awaited sequel to the survival franchise. The same day also marks DOOM: The Dark Ages' subscription debut. Rounding out the major releases are Outbound on May 11, a cozy exploration game from Square Glade Games, and Call of the Elder Gods on May 12, a narrative puzzle adventure and follow-up to 2020's Call of the Sea.
Mixtape, the next project from the developer behind The Artful Escape, also launches directly into Game Pass on May 7, while Black Jacket arrives May 12. Elite Dangerous returns to the service on May 12 as well.
The roster extends beyond tentpole releases. May 6 marks a cluster of additions including Ben 10 Power Trip, Wildgate, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Wheel World, and Descenders Next, the latter now available exclusively at the Game Pass Premium tier.
Microsoft's service strategy continues to shift in other ways. Call of Duty games will no longer land day one on Game Pass going forward, instead arriving 12 months after their retail launch. The company is also testing a Starter Edition tier for Discord Nitro members, exploring new avenues for subscriber acquisition.
Five titles are departing the service on May 15: Galacticare, Go Mecha Ball, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo, Paw Patrol Rescue Wheels: Championship, and Planet of Lana.
Author Emily Chen: "This is exactly the kind of month that could justify a subscription renewal, especially at these new price points, but losing Call of Duty day one is a real sting that Microsoft needed to cushion with something this stacked."
