Forza Horizon 6 Reveals Multiplayer Command Center Called Horizon Play

Playground Games has lifted the curtain on the multiplayer backbone of Forza Horizon 6, a feature suite branded as Horizon Play that will serve as the central hub for competitive and cooperative racing modes.

The studio announced the details through a social media post, positioning Horizon Play as the destination for players seeking structured multiplayer experiences. The platform will bring back The Eliminator, the battle royale-style event that proved popular in previous entries, while introducing fresh competitive formats designed to level the playing field.

Among the newcomers is Spec Racing, a mode that strips away car customization advantages by forcing all competitors into identical vehicles. The addition addresses a common complaint in racing games: the gap between heavily tuned vehicles and stock builds. By eliminating that disparity, Spec Racing prioritizes driver skill over preparation time.

Touge Showdown represents another new event type making its debut in Horizon 6. The mode centers on mountain pass racing, a format the development team detailed earlier this week during a developer Q&A session held on Forza's community Discord channel. The format taps into a specific racing culture with dedicated fans, signaling Playground's intent to diversify event types beyond traditional circuit and street racing.

Forza Horizon 6 launches May 19, with early access arriving May 15 for players purchasing the premium edition. The game has already drawn substantial attention from the racing community, with previous reveals showcasing expanded customization systems, new open-world event types, and seasonal content updates that will shape the post-launch experience.

Author Emily Chen: "Spec Racing could be the mode that actually gets the playing field level for once, though watch for players to complain about car selection anyway."
