Best Buy Slashes Magic: The Gathering Prices in Flash 24-Hour Blitz

Magic: The Gathering players hunting for deals got a gift from Best Buy on Wednesday. The retailer launched a one-day sale across multiple sets and products, offering discounts that ranged from modest to substantial for both casual newcomers and seasoned collectors.

The recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover set commanded the most aggressive markdowns. A Play Booster Box, containing 30 packs, dropped to $134.99, marking a $65 cut from regular price. The co-op focused Team-Up box fell to $39.99 after a $10 discount, while the Draft Night bundle dipped to $99.99 from $129.99.

Earlier sets didn't go ignored. The Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander preconstructed decks, Dance of the Elements and Blight Curse, each hit $31.99 and $34.99 respectively, slashed from $50 apiece. Standard-legal Pirates and Angels Themed Decks sold for $11.99 total with a 50% markdown, though shoppers received a random selection between the two.

Crossover products from 2024 also received treatment. The Avatar: The Last Airbender Beginner Box sat at $22.99 down from its original price. A Spider-Man Play Booster Box dropped $70 to land at $119.99, with a Gift Edition Bundle available at $64.99.

Franchise-themed Commander decks rounded out the offerings. The Final Fantasy 7 precon, Limit Break, sold for $64.99, a $35 reduction that notably included a download code for the original game on PC. The Fallout set's Science! precon priced at $44.99.

The catch: all discounts expired at the end of the calendar day, making this a genuine flash sale rather than an extended promotion. For players already committed to the hobby or testing the waters before investing in booster boxes, the timing aligned with genuine value on multiple fronts across the product range.

Author Emily Chen: "Best Buy nailed the timing with this one, hitting everything from gateway products to heavy hitters in a single day sweep."
