Rhythm Heaven Groove hits Switch in July, preorders live now

Nintendo's long-awaited return to the rhythm game space arrives this summer. Rhythm Heaven Groove is now available for preorder ahead of its July 2 launch on Switch, with physical copies priced at $39.99 across major retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop. Digital versions are also available through the Nintendo eShop at the same price.

The franchise hasn't seen a new mainline entry since 2016's Rhythm Heaven: Megamix. Nintendo first teased this sequel during a Nintendo Direct presentation in March 2025, and the game has generated steady anticipation among fans of the series ever since.

Groove follows the familiar formula that made earlier entries in the series popular: a collection of rhythm-based mini games that require precise button timing synchronized to musical beats. The gameplay challenges players to stay locked in with the on-screen action, rewarding accuracy and rhythm sense. Nintendo has shared gameplay footage showing what players can expect from the experience.

There are no preorder bonuses attached to early purchases at this time, so timing your order around launch day won't affect what you receive. Both physical and digital versions carry identical pricing.

For collectors or players who prefer physical media, inventory for rhythm games tends to move quickly once launch windows approach. The game's five-week wait from now until release gives preorder windows a relatively narrow timeframe.

Author Emily Chen: "The rhythm genre doesn't get nearly enough love on Switch, so seeing Nintendo dust off Rhythm Heaven with actual backing behind a major release feels genuinely overdue."
