MTG's Weirdest Commander Deck Just Dropped to $40

Magic: The Gathering players hunting for a bargain just caught a break. Amazon has slashed the price on one of the Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander precons to an all-time low, and it happens to be one of the most inventive decks released so far this year.

Blight Curse stands out because it swims against the current of typical Magic precons. While most decks focus on pumping creatures with +1/+1 counters, this one flips the script entirely. It's all about weakening opponents' creatures and sometimes your own with -1/-1 counters, creating a playstyle that feels genuinely fresh.

The deck operates in unusual territory. It's genuinely fun to pilot without any upgrades, though it demands attention. You'll need to track triggers carefully and stay on top of token counts throughout the game. It's not the deck for someone who wants to play on autopilot.

Two commanders lead this effort. Auntie Ool, Cursewretch requires players to apply -1/-1 counters in order to target it, then converts those counters into card draw or life loss depending on whose creature carries them. The Reaper, King No More takes a different angle: it transforms creatures that die to -1/-1 counters into your own creatures, turning enemy losses into your gains.

Both commanders work, but The Reaper offers a more satisfying play pattern. The deck also includes solid reprints like Necroskitter, Chimil the Inner Sun, and the notoriously punishing Tree of Perdition.

If you're eyeing the other Lorwyn Eclipsed option, Dance of the Elements is also discounted to around $35. That deck pivots to a completely different strategy, summoning oversized elemental creatures across all five colors and delivering a more straightforward path to victory.

Author Emily Chen: "Blight Curse is the kind of precon that deserves attention because it's genuinely weird in the best way, and at this price point it's basically a no-brainer for anyone who enjoys something beyond the standard power-up playbook."
