A fleeting social media post from the actor who models Peter Parker's face has set gaming forums ablaze with theories about Insomniac's next Spider-Man project. Ben Jordan, who provides facial capture for the web-slinger in the PlayStation games, uploaded an image to Instagram showing himself in motion capture gear, paired with the message "IYKYK" and a spider emoji before deleting it.
The post vanished quickly, but not before internet users captured screenshots. Gaming commentators have already begun debating whether the tease signals development on Marvel's Spider-Man 3 or perhaps a spinoff title.
Jordan took over facial modeling duties from John Bubniak when Insomniac remastered the original Spider-Man for PlayStation 5. Creative director Bryan Intihar explained the switch at the time was aimed at securing "a better facial match for actor Yuri Lowenthal," the voice behind Peter Parker across the series.
The timing of the post sits alongside Insomniac's stated focus on Marvel's Wolverine, which is slated for later this year. A new Spider-Man entry would represent a natural follow-up for the studio once that superhero title launches. The studio has not officially announced any plans for another web-slinger game, leaving Jordan's cryptic message as the only hint at what might be next.
Whether the motion capture image points to a direct sequel or a different kind of Spider-Man experience remains unclear. The deliberate deletion and emoji choice suggest Jordan was aware of the buzz his post would create, adding fuel to speculation that he may have intentionally leaked a nugget of information before Insomniac could contain it.
Author Emily Chen: "A face model posting motion capture gear and vanishing it just as fast feels less like an accident and more like someone testing the waters before a big reveal."
