WB Games has unveiled a fresh take on one of Batman's most distinctive alternate designs. The upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will feature a playable Batsuit inspired by Gotham by Gaslight, the 1989 Elsewords comic that reimagined the Dark Knight in a steampunk Victorian setting.
The original comic, released in 1989, transported Batman to 1889 Gotham where he faced off against Jack the Ripper. That darker, grittier narrative gets a lighter treatment in the LEGO adaptation, with the suit taking on the colorful, whimsical tone the franchise is known for while keeping the era-appropriate steampunk aesthetic intact.
The reveal comes as part of the game's broader approach to drawing from Batman's expansive universe across multiple mediums. Legacy of the Dark Knight will pull content from DC's comics, the 1960s television series, and various film adaptations, giving players an array of suits and characters to explore.
