Sam Witwer Ready to Go Bald for Star Wars Return

Sam Witwer has made clear he's willing to make a dramatic physical transformation if Lucasfilm decides to revive one of his most beloved Star Wars roles.

The actor, speaking to Polygon, said he'd immediately shave his head to slip back into the character of Starkiller from The Force Unleashed video game series. "I would shave my head in an instant. Very happy to do so," Witwer explained. "I love that character, and he's really the reason I'm here."

Starkiller, whose real name is Galen Marek, debuted in 2008 as Darth Vader's secret apprentice across multiple gaming platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, and Wii. A sequel arrived in 2010. The character and the game series exist in Star Wars "Legends" canon, meaning they're no longer considered official continuity, though that status doesn't necessarily prevent their return.

Witwer's enthusiasm for the role reflects its significance in launching his Star Wars career. Since voicing Starkiller, he's gone on to tackle numerous other roles in the franchise, including Emperor Palpatine and multiple iterations of Darth Maul. His work as Maul spans projects from Solo: A Star Wars Story to the recent animated series Maul: Shadow Lord.

The actor has previously hinted that Starkiller nearly made a surprise appearance in the Rebels animated series, though those plans never came to fruition. There's been no official announcement from Disney regarding any new Starkiller project, whether for video games, streaming shows, or theatrical release.

For now, Witwer remains eager but waiting. The question of whether Lucasfilm will tap him to return to the shaven-headed Force user remains unanswered, leaving one of Star Wars' most devoted performers in a familiar position: hoping the franchise brings back the character that changed everything for him.
