Americans Overwhelmingly Reject Trump Signature on Currency

Nearly 60% of Americans disapprove of adding President Trump's signature to U.S. currency, according to a new YouGov poll that reveals deep public resistance to the plan.

The Treasury Department has announced that Trump's signature will replace that of U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach on printed bills, framed as a commemorative measure tied to America's 250th anniversary. But the polling data suggests the move faces significant headwinds among voters across virtually every demographic group.

Strong disapproval dominates the numbers. Nearly half of all respondents, 48%, strongly oppose the signature change. An additional 11% somewhat disapprove, pushing total opposition to 59%. Only 23% of those surveyed approved of the plan, while 19% remained uncertain.

The resistance cuts across geographic and demographic lines. The Midwest led disapproval at 54%, followed by the West at 51%, the Northeast at 49%, and the South at 43%. Age proved a significant factor; respondents 65 and older opposed the move at 53%, compared to just 35% of those aged 18 to 29. Black Americans registered the highest disapproval of any racial group at 59%, while 47% of white respondents, 42% of Hispanic respondents, and 50% of other races opposed the change.
