A 19-year-old took the stand Tuesday to describe FaceTime conversations with his father, a Hawaii doctor, in which the father allegedly confessed to attempting to kill his wife during a hike on Oahu.
Emile Konig told jurors he received two calls from his father, Gerhardt Konig, 47, on the morning of March 24, 2025. Prosecutors allege that on the same day, Gerhardt attempted to murder his wife, Arielle Konig, 37, on the Pali Puka trail.
According to the son's testimony, his father mentioned that his wife had been unfaithful and stated that he had "tried to kill her."
The case centers on an alleged attack during what was meant to be a birthday celebration for Arielle Konig. The specifics of the alleged assault and the current condition of the victim remain central to prosecutors' case against the defendant.
